This module is the step from a working agent to a production-ready system. You'll learn how to equip AI agents with persistent memory, orchestrate multiple specialized agents with a clear division of labor, and develop your own MCP servers as a stable tool layer. By the end of the course, you'll also know how to secure your systems with input, output, and retrieval guardrails – so that they don't just work, but can also be operated responsibly.
As a joint final project, you'll build a complete content creation pipeline that brings all of these concepts together: memory, orchestration, MCP integration, and security mechanisms in a workflow ready for real-world use.
Agenda
Introduction, Recap and Course Goals
- Recap of Module 1: N8N, Prompt Engineering, RAG
Persistent Agent Memory
- Long-term memory: user context, preferences, conversation history
- Integrating an SQL database into N8N – chat memories
- Short-term vs. long-term storage, memory retrieval strategies
- Exercise: agent with user context memory across multiple sessions
Multi-Agent Systems
- Five architecture patterns: parallel, sequential, loop, router, network
- State management, error recovery, resilience
- Implementation with the AI Agent Tool / Sub Workflow Tool
- Build your own multi-agent system
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- MCP: a standardized channel between AI and tools
- MCP server architecture, your own server, integration in N8N
- Authentication, authorization, security
- Maintainable integrations for the future
Guardrails
- Input, output and retrieval guardrails in N8N
- Sanitize text, validation pipelines
- Guardrails as a compliance requirement
- Final project: content pipeline with memory, orchestration, MCP, guardrails
What you should know
- Completed N8N Module 1 (Automation with AI Agents) or comparable hands-on experience with N8N and basic agent workflows
- Familiarity with API integration and webhooks in N8N
- Basic understanding of prompt engineering and RAG concepts
- Knowledge of TypeScript or Python is an advantage for the MCP server day, but not mandatory – we will guide you through the most important concepts
- Basic knowledge of SQL databases is helpful for the memory integration
To refresh your knowledge, we recommend briefly skimming the materials from Module 1 before the course – we start day 1 directly with persistence concepts.
